COLUMBO: Sri Lankan cricket team fast bowler and former captain Lasith Malinga has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
“I am announcing my retirement from all forms of cricket,” Sri Lankan fast bowler and T20 specialist Lasith Malinga said in a statement on social networking site Twitter.
“I would like to thank all the people who accompanied me on my journey,” said Malath.
Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga added, “I look forward to sharing my experience with young cricketers in the years to come.”
Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga has taken 101 wickets in 30 matches in his Test career, 338 wickets in 226 matches in his ODI career and 107 wickets in 84 matches in his T20 career.
The best bowling figure in Lasith Malinga’s Test career is 9 wickets for 210 runs, 6 wickets for 38 runs in ODI career and 5 wickets for 6 runs in T20 career.
It should be noted that Lasith Malinga has also shown excellent performance in league matches.
Earlier, South African fast bowler Dale Steyn also announced his retirement.
